Dear Confirmation Candidate and Parents,
It is time for you to make your final decision about your Confirmation.
I hope you have been in prayer and dialogue with your parents and the person you have chosen to be your sponsor.
YOUR CONFIRMATION DATE IS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2009 AT OUR
NOON LITURGY
A registration fee of $25.00 per student (not to exceed $45.00 per family) will remain this year. Please register your family in Grades 7 through Confirmation on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in the Faith Formation Office in school. If your payment is processed by check, please make it payable to Blessed Sacrament Church. As always, if this fee is a burden, please contact us. The lists of requirements for Confirmation for this Fall 2009 are attached. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me before our first session, September 17, 2009.
Your Confirmation Reconciliation Service will be provided for you. I will notify you of the date later in this semester. Rehearsal for you and your sponsor for your Confirmation ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM in our Church. We ask that you and your sponsor meet in Church promptly at 7:00 PM on this evening.
** Notes for you and your sponsor:
** What is a sponsor? A sponsor is a person of faith, your faith companion, a friend with whom you can share questions and convictions about your faith and an official witness.
How do you choose a sponsor? The sponsor (1) must be Catholic, confirmed and active in his/her own Catholic community; (2) may be the same as your Baptismal sponsor (your Godparent), but must be someone other than a parent; (3) must be at least 16 years old.
** In addition we suggest that a sponsor be willing to participate in our sponsor/candidate meeting (Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 6:45pm in our school gym).
** Please read carefully the "Confirmation Requirements" enclosed in this correspondence. A private interview for the candidate and their sponsor with Father Bradley or Father Lawless is mandatory prior to Confirmation. Please make this appointment with Father by calling him at the rectory ( #482-3375). If your last name begins with A-L, please contact Fr. Bradley; if your last name begins with M-Z please contact Fr. Lawless).
We will be taking your picture to be posted in Church prior to your special day! Please be prepared for this photo session on Thursday, September 24, 2009 during class time. There will not be a re-take evening.
On a social note, after your Confirmation ceremony, Bishop Hubbard will proceed to our school gym where you may have pictures taken with him and enjoy a reception provided for you and your loved ones.
